Composites for Europe: Fresh ideas for the new start

For the first time this year, the trade fair is focusing on small and medium-sized companies from the DACH region. "The focus will be on the areas of application and the question of how composite materials can be integrated even more economically into our everyday lives," says Project Manager Dr. Ing. Hans-Christian Früh, explaining the new concept. There has been very positive feedback from the market so far: "There is a spirit of optimism in many application areas. In this sense, Composites for Europe provides the industry with fresh impulses for a positive new start after the corona lockdown," continues Dr. Früh.
Experience applications live
The "Process Live" and "High Lights" areas are also part of the new concept. Here innovative products and applications can be experienced and tried out. The "High Lights" include exhibits from the four main themes of Sport & Leisure, Mobility & Transport, Construction & Infrastructure and Circular Economy. For example, the company von der Linden will be presenting sandwich panels made of natural fiber composite materials and the company Velosione will be presenting a city bicycle. The latter has innovations along the process chain: from a compound with recycled carbon fibers and an efficient injection molding process to an integral construction method with a reduced ecological footprint.
Strong expert lineup in the forum
The 60 or so presentations in the Impuls Forum will also focus on current innovations and the future viability of the industry. Dr. Asta Partanen from the nova Institut and Pieter Imhof from Bio_BTX will be among those speaking on the subject of the circular economy. While Dr. Partanen focuses on renewable carbon, Imhof will present chemical recycling processes for a circular economy. The thematic contributions are flanked by keynotes on market development and industry trends that have been analyzed by AVK.
For the first time this year, the Leichtbau Innovation Camp of Leichtbau Baden-Württemberg will take place parallel to Composites for Europe. Participants will benefit from the proximity of both events in terms of time and space.
